Hoops

Hoops are the limit of size when digitizing.

Name is whatever you want to call your hoop—E.g. A jacket, oversized or pocket.

The hoop is a square.

If you have a round or oval hoop, you need to round the photo using transparent pixels to use the hole hoop.

Make the background use fewer colors

Let colors get used on the crucial parts of the image.

Edit your starting image background and make it a sepia tone, black and white, blur the colors out or delete it. If there are lots of colors, your images may be going to maximum colors before it makes the part of the photo you care about.

A colorful object in the background that keeps using up all the colors

Use transparent backgrounds.

The PhotoEmbroidery process will ignore transparent pixels, but if you leave an opaque white (or another color) background, it will fill this in with thread. The non-rectangular designs that result from using transparency cost less and often look nicer.

  • PNG files can have transparent pixels
  • JPG files can not have transparent pixels
